Tropical Noire is a collection of large, interior, sculptural vessels. The pieces are designed by Simone Brewster and have been crafted out of a mix of tulipwood and maple wood employing a combination of processes. The form of these domestic objects are deconstructions of the black female body. Inspiration has been taken from African sculpture, with elements reinterpreted three dimensionally, taking references from both Primitivism and Cubism.
